Exploring the potential impact of the plannned new doctor's surgery near to the play area
Last Update 19th June 08 - The Parent Council will be watching the press for any public notice regarding the detailed planning application. Our concern is that it will be submitted during the holiday season in the hope that it won't be noticed.
As at 25th Feb 08 - The land transfer has been approved and outline planning consent granted. As this was at Scottish Exec level,it is extremely unlikely that it can now be blocked. However, it will be possible to make ojections to specific items in the detailed planning application. This has yet to be submitted but expected areas of concern are traffic safety/calming,school fencing/boundries and the movement/reduced size of the children's playpark next to Netherlee pavilion.
Persuading the local authority to stop using the school as a polling station
Last Update - 26th June - ERC has refused to to stop using the school as a polling station despite the volume of responses from parents in support of the Parent Council's position. The PC was not convinced by the arguments put forward by ERC that there is no suitable alternative venue. The PC remains attracted by the idea of using Netherlee Pavillion which, it believes, is of a similar size to the school atrium and offers similar facilities in terms of car parking and disabled access. However, ERC has refused to consider other venues and on the advice of the Headteacher, the PC resolved to leave the matter for the time being.
As at 25th Feb 08 - A template letter was sent to all parents via "pupil post" and the responses we received were sent to ERC - the local council. We received 99 responses from the 543 families with pupils at the school.Unfortunately, the council decided that other venues such as Netherlee Pavillion,Scout hall or church hall were not suitable due to parking and size.
